Dr. Bailey Choi-Vanos

Assistant Director

Curriculum Director

Teacher of the Year 2013

Hi! My name is Bailey Choi and I will be one of the Kindergarten teachers here at Carlsbad Country Day School. I was born and raised in Torrance, California but currently reside in Carlsbad. I moved to San Diego 10 years ago to attend UC San Diego, where I received my B.A. in History and Education Studies. I then went on to obtain my Masters of Education and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a Subject Matter Authorization in Social Science.

Upon graduation, I presented my research thesis on the affect of a social curriculum intervention on an elementary school class at the UC San Diego Master of Education Colloquium. I am currently in my final year of my doctorate program in teaching and learning at UCSD. I recently presented at the Common Core Next Generation Science Standards Conference and the Early Childhood STEM Institute. Additionally, I have taken a large part of curriculum development here at Carlsbad Country Day since I joined the team back in October of 2009.

Although I have worked with students of various ages from preschool to high school, I really enjoy teaching Kindergarten. Having prior experience teaching public school kindergarten, I know what is expected at the early elementary level.

Some of my hobbies include teaching the Literacy and Penmanship Class at CCDS, crafting, being active and baking. I am excited to be a part of Carlsbad Country Day School and look forward to meeting your child and your family.
