Carlsbad Country Day School

Jane Tate
Four Year Olds Teacher

Dear Parents,

Hi, my name is Jane Tate; I am passionate about teaching and I love to work with young children! I am excited to be part of the team here at Carlsbad Country Day School! I just want to take a few moments to introduce myself.

I have been a teacher for 8 years in private schools in the High Desert area. Of the 8 years, I have served as a director for 2 years. I have also worked with young children as a volunteer in a church program. I graduated from Victor Valley Community College with an Associate’s of Science degree in Child Development and an Associate’s of Arts degree in Liberal Studies in 2002. I continued my education through University of La Verne and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Child Development. I am also fully qualified to be a Site Supervisor in any early childhood facility or a Program Coordinator that designs programs for State Preschools. I believe strong in learning something new everyday and am always looking for opportunities for professional growth. Currently, I am planning to further my education and enroll into a graduate program for Child Development.

In regards to education and care, I am a firm believer in viewing the child as a whole. I believe in catering to all areas of development in a child. I love to create and share in my classroom. I have a very strong musical background and I teach through the use of music every day. I love to build on each child’s personal and unique traits and I teach according to their interest as a classroom whole. I also am a believer in “never being too young or too old” to learn and begin to introduce phonics at an early age.

I consider myself an emotional genius, and I treat all beings with love, care, and respect. I do not believe in talking down to a child. I believe in self-expression. I encourage children to experience their emotions. I believe in a positive environment and noticing the positive rather than the negative in all situations. In regards to discipline, I feel strongly in redirection, providing other choices, or shadowing the teacher rather than time-outs.

On a more personal note, I moved to the San Diego area recently after having survived the scorching desert for 19 years! I absolutely love this area! When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending my free time with my husband, Dustin, and our two dogs, Honey and Brock. I have two children Clarissa and DJ, both of whom are biologically my husbands, but emotionally mine! We have yet to have our own babies together! I love to read and express myself through creative writing and playing classical music on my piano.

I look forward to journeying with you as your child grows in both curiosity and knowledge!

Sincerely,

Jane Tate
